Letter from the President

It was such a pleasure seeing everyone at the Louisiana School Facilities Managers Association Fall Conference at the Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville. Thank you to all who attended, presented, and supported this year’s event—your participation and enthusiasm made it a true success.

We opened with an energetic networking session sponsored by Mechanical Concepts and Daikin Comfort, setting the tone for two days filled with valuable learning and connection. Our Conference featured insightful presentations from leaders in the field, beginning with Scott Johnson and Melissa Murphy from GOSHEP, pinch-hitting for  Robbie Martin from the Louisiana Center for Safe Schools, who shared important updates on school security grant opportunities. MM Energy Solutions and Powertron Global followed with a presentation on Public Service Commission grants for lighting, boiler, HVAC, and steamer upgrades. James Edwards and Brad Everett from the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal provided expert insights on school fire safety best practices and building codes, while Riley Mahony of Mechanical Concepts explored emerging chiller technologies. Daniel Jones and Nuno Silva of Daikin Comfort joined forces to present on VRV system design under new refrigerant standards. We also appreciated the thoughtful group discussion led by John Rome, Board Advisor of LSFMA and President of NSPMA, which encouraged collaboration and problem-solving. On the final day, Will Evans of Momar closed with a strong session on hydronic water treatment.
